Polish law enforcement has arrested a Russian citizen on suspicion of conducting unauthorized cyber intrusions into a commercial information system.

On November 16, 2025, officers from the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime in Krakow, acting under the direction of the District Prosecutor's Office in Krakow, detained the individual. According to the authorities, the suspect illegally entered the Republic of Poland in 2022 and was granted refugee status in the country the following year.

Evidence collected during the investigation indicates that the individual, acting without authorization, bypassed the security measures of an online store's system. The suspect allegedly gained unlawful access to the company's databases and proceeded to alter their structure.

Following the suspect's interrogation and the formal presentation of charges, the overseeing prosecutor petitioned the District Court for Krakow-Śródmieście to impose a preventive measure of temporary arrest. The court granted the request, ordering the suspect to be detained for a period of three months.

Investigators also stated they are examining potential connections between the suspect and other cybercriminal activities targeting companies in Poland and other European Union member states. The scope of possible damages to entities that may have been victimized by such attacks is currently being verified. The case remains under active investigation.
