Cloudflare, a leading web infrastructure company, has successfully thwarted a massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, which peaked at over 71 million requests per second.

The attack has been labelled a “hyper-volumetric” DDoS attack and is considered the largest HTTP DDoS attack on record, surpassing the previous record of 46 million requests per second.

The attack targeted websites protected by Cloudflare’s platform and was traced back to a botnet comprising over 30,000 IP addresses from various cloud providers.

This latest attack serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by DDoS attacks to websites and online services. Companies must have robust security measures in place to prevent and mitigate such attacks.

Cloudflare’s success in stopping the attack highlights the importance of having strong cybersecurity defences to protect against the ever-evolving tactics of cybercriminals.
